My Office, My Home - Emily
To our team, their office can become a second Home. In this blog series, we explore different spaces around CHOY's campus to peek into the day-to-day lives of our team members.
Emily is a Therapist in the BRIDGES™ Partial Hospitalization Program. During a typical day, Emily meets with BRIDGES™ clients, both individually and with their families, for therapy sessions to help them along their healing journey.
Motivational Posters
"I love finding, creating, and hanging motivational posters around our space. These help our clients know that we're all here for the same reason - to help them heal and succeed."
Student Art and Art Supplies
"One of my favorite therapies is art therapy. I make sure that our BRIDGES™ clients know my office is a safe space to express their feelings. Providing them with a blank canvas can often lead to a lot of self-discovery. With art, there are endless tools and supplies - crayons, paint, clay, pastels - that all can evoke different responses to each individual."
Books
"Another great therapeutic tool is books. I love having a reading session with my clients and trying to relate their experiences to different novels. I can also benefit from these sessions, as different clients can discover new perspectives that I have never considered."
Feeling Chart
"Having and creating physical feeling charts is another tool we can give our clients to communicate with us. Helping clients identify and understand different emotions helps them learn how to cope with big feelings the next time it happens."
